Pager - the Uber for Doctors - has already launched in New York City and is rumored to be looking to next launch in Boston. Here is how Pager works: Say it’s late at night or a Sunday and you don’t feel well. You want to see a doctor but don’t want to go to an emergency room or urgent care center. You open Pager and hit a button to call up a doctor. A few possible options appear on your mobile screen — splash pages showing doctors’ pictures, specialties, credentials and fees. You pick the doctor you want. Within five minutes, a board-certified doctor will call you. If a phone consultation is all you need, you are charged $50 — the doctor gets $40, the rest goes to Pager. If the triage discussion of symptoms leads to a visit to your home from the doctor, the cost goes to $300 (the doctor receives $250). Later on, Pager may experiment with surge pricing, as Uber does. “If it’s flu season, it may cost more,” de Dreuzy said. blogs.wsj/digits/2014/05/08/early-uber-engineer-launches-pager-a-doctor-makes-house-call-app/
