Three Main Steps to fix school education in India: 1. Make it easy and cheap to open schools in India (currently only the rich and/or politically connected or foolhardy are able to set up schools) 2. Empower choice among parents by giving school vouchers (instead of spending money in paying teacher salaries, putting up schools) 3. Enable choice by a transparent system of school rankings Minor points: A. Bring in accountability by linking teacher progression to learning outcomes B. Fix Teacher education by overhauling the B.Ed program
