Pak skipper alleges injustice by Indian umpires India win Kabaddi WC final in controversial fashion. - Sports Board Punjab India defeated Pakistan on Saturday in a thrilling but controversial Kabaddi World Cup final by 45 points to 42. Pakistan were leading the game almost throughout the match but India took the lead in the dying moments of the game and abruptly the officials of the event announced the finishing of the match. In a thrilling final match of 5th World Cup Kabaddi, organizers stopped the match immediately after India took lead in the fourth quarter otherwise Pakistan were in grip of the match. At start of the match, Pakistan took lead and won first three quarters of the match but in the last segment, Pakistan lost the match. Indian Team thus pocketed Rs 20 million as a winner while Pakistan will get Rs 10 million as runners up. It’s Indian team’s fifth consecutive victory in the final of the grand event. Pakistani skipper Shafiq Chishti alleged that the match was finished before time and third umpire also threatened us. He said that Pakistan will not participate in any tournament in India if injustice continued. Shafiq lamented mistreatment by the organisers and said that the match was ended before time as soon as India gained a two-point lead over Pakistan. He also complained that Pakistan players were not allowed to drink water and when they reacted they were told to ‘stay away’. Pakistan gave a very good performance against the Indians and were in lead 31-27 at the end of the third quarter. With the start of the fourth quarter, India tried to lessen Pakistan’s lead and as soon they gained a two-point lead the final hooter rang which Chishti claims was before the stipulated time. Pakistan captain further said that if India organises the event that doesn’t mean they have to cheat and keep the World Cup for themselves. Shafiq alleged that umpires were biased towards Pakistan. He said that umpires pressurized Pakistan side to quickly get on with the game. He said that the third umpire did not take any notice of the threats given by the referee on the field. He blamed the umpire of giving decisions against Pakistan. In the semi-final Pakistan had beaten Iran 56-28. In group stage, Pakistan edged Denmark, England, Canada, Sweden and Argentina to emerge as group winners with ten points. Although Pakistan have beaten India in the Sharjah Cup and the Asian Championship but in the World Cup final they always tasted a defeat. In 2013 edition India had beaten Pakistan 48-39 in the final. In 2012 final they lost to India 22-59 while in 2010 title clash India beat Pakistan 58-24.
