Pak troops fire in Nowgam Posted on October 22, 2013 by Dailyexcelsior Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Pakistani troops today fired at Indian positions in Nowgam sector along the Line of Control (LOC) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, injuring a porter. Sources said that Pakistani troops fired on the Indian positions at around 10 a.m. today. The firing continued for over an hour. Indian troops also retaliated. However, there were no reports of loss from Pakistani side. One civil porter of Army, Ashif Khan of Reshwari was injured in left hand. He has been hospitalised. In the meantime, army’s 18, 28, 47 Rashtriya Rifles today launched an operation in the forests of Margie Lolab in district Kupwara after they received information about the presence of a group of 2-3 militants in the forest area. Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched several operations in Lolab forests of North Kashmir over past few weeks. One militant of Jaish-e-Mohammad militant was killed in the operation last week. Army had information about the presence of around 20 militants in the forest area when they launched operation 10 days ago.
