Pakistan Day to be celebrated on March 23 with traditional fervour Pakistan Day will be celebrated throughout the country on March 23 with traditional fervour to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of 1940. During the day special prayers will be held for security and prosperity of the country at all places of worship. The day will dawn with firing of 31 gun salute at sunrise in Rawalpindi and 21 gun salute at all the provincial capitals. Pakistan’s flag will be hoisted on principal public and private buildings throughout the country. Flags will also be hoisted on all Pakistani missions abroad during ceremonies to be attended by members of Pakistani community. Messages of the President and Prime Minister to the nation will be read out on the occasion. Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and students will take out rallies and documentary films will be shown to the school children and the public at large in all cinema houses. Television and radio stations will broadcast special programmes and newspapers will take out special supplements to highlight the significance of the day. An investiture ceremony will be held at the Presidency in which the President will confer awards on prominent personalities from various walks of life. Investiture ceremonies will also be held in the provinces, while Governors and Chief Ministers will hold receptions at the provincial capitals. Seminars, poetry recitation events, exhibitions of photographs and documents relating to the Pakistan Movement, Qirat contests, debates and essay competitions will be arranged in cities and towns. Sweets and gifts will be distributed at orphanages and Darul Amans and special meals will be served to prisoners across the country.
