Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir: During partition of India in 1947 there was a war between Pakistan and India to capture Jammu and Kashmir state,then a princely state,as a result of this an area of 13297 sq. km.fell into Pakistani hands(see fig.) which they called Azad Kashmir.In POK there are three divisions,which are divided in ten districts with hqrs. at Muzaffarabad.It is a self-governing state under Pakistani control,though it has its own President,Prime Minister,Legislative Assembly,and High Court,the politicians sitting most of the time at Muzaffarabad.The Pakistanis celebrate October 24 as Azad Kashmir Day.The Leepa valley,located 105 km.due SE of Muzaffarabad is the most charming and scenic place for tourists in POK.(see pic.).
