Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Press Release Lahore July 22, 2014: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Chairperson IDPs Fauzia Kasuri, while on a visit to Lahore, held a meeting with President Punjab Saloni Bokhari and President Lahore Aleem Khan and office bearers. Welcoming Mrs Kasuri, Saloni Bokhari President Punjab Womens Wing said that PTI has never failed helping fellow citizens in their time of need. She said it was was inspirational to see PTI women doing what they could despite the hot weather and Ramzan, to raise funds throughout Punjab. She said PTI is sensitive to the needs of its brothers and sisters and have always responded whether it is in times of conflict or natural calamities. Saloni Bokhari said the party was proud of its office bearers, members and were proud of the work being done by Fauzia Kasuri. Addressing office bearers in the Partys Lahore office, Kasuri gave a brief about the current situation regarding the people displaced due to the army operation ZarbeAzb, in the tribal belts and the challenges faced by the KPK govt and the Imran Khan Foundation. The KPK govt was the first to respond to the people fleeing the conflict zone. The Pathans are hospitable and they opened their doors to family and friends, as the camps that had been organised for the displace had no facilities and the basic amenities for women and children were non-existent. Another aspect that came to light is that there was no real idea as to how many people would be leaving the afflicted area. I believe that no real census has been carried out in the tribal belt. The number of displaced people far exceeds the numbers that were initially expected. While civil society has rallied forth to help, as well as the army, it is KPK that has taken the brunt. The situation could have been combustible, but the PTI government is trying to provide every facility possible. There have been certain aspects that have proved useful, one is administering Polio drops to as many children as possible. Providing medical facilities and setting up veterinary mobile units to safeguard the livestock that has been transported by the IDPs. As resettlement is of vital importance, the livelihood of these families needs to be protected. There is much to be done as the numbers of those displaced and in need of help is far greater than anticipated. With these extraordinary numbers come huge problems. We are trying to reach people at every level and we need the generosity of every Pakistani citizen. We need to help the children, the elderly, the wounded and the women, she concluded. Aleem Khan President Lahore welcomed Fauzia Kasuri and said she has played a vital role by visiting the IDPs organising funds for basic provisions. He said Lahore is continuing efforts to help the party with the influx of people from Tribal areas. PTI Lahore has not let the displaced down. Sarah Ahmad Deputy Information Secretary WW Punjab PTI
