Pakistan fires at Indian post in Jammu again JAMMU: Pakistani troops targeted a forward Indian post along the India-Pakistan international border in Samba district near Jammu for the second time in less than 24 hours. Sources said that the 9th Battalion of BSF manning the forward post at Sadoh village retaliated effectively and the exchange of fire lasted for some 8-10 minutes at 2am on Wednesday. No one was wounded in the exchange of fire. Pakistan had resorted to unprovoked firing on Suchetpur post in Samba sector on Tuesday as well. Later, Indian and Pakistani officers held a flag meet on the zeroline in Samba district. Sources said that the meeting started at 2.30pm and lasted for around an hour. The BSF raised the issue of cross-border firing with their counterparts besides the cultivation of sarkanda (wild bushes) on the other side of the fence, which creates problems for the troops to maintain vigil on the border, sources said. Defence minister Arun Jaitley had last week asked Pakistan to stop ceasefire violations for normalization of ties. For the situation to normalize, I think it is extremely important that these kind of violations which are taking place along the LoC must stop. That in itself is a confidence building measure before any country can proceed further, he had said.
