Everyone is welcome, FCCT member or not. Thailand is currently experiencing a wave of Palestinian refugees fleeing from Syria, which, of course, makes them refugees for at least the second time. Many are understandably traumatized and in a state of distress facing the many difficulties they encounter here and have encountered before coming here. The refugees are, however, facing, what they feel, is a lack of true understanding of their situation. In response to the scenario leading to having distressed and destitute Palestinian refugees on our doorstep, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) Thailand is bringing some of them to highlight their pitiful situation and create attention to their cause. The evening will, however, not only be a sombre affair but will also be constructive and accentuate the positive. Professionals, activists and experts working on refugee, asylum and related issues are being invited and, of course, there will be actual refugees on hand to tell of their heartbreaking stories. Palestinian folklore, celebrating Palestinian culture, including performances from Palestinian child refugees, will be on the programme. There will be individuals at the event who were evicted from Palestine back in the 1940s and there will be on display a genuine key to a home belonging to a family forced from Palestine at that time. The avant-garde Thai artist Vasan Sitthiket will also put his exhibition Art for Palestine on display and a short film produced by the refugees themselves will be shown. Do come and be part of this unique event covering issues at the centre of world events and, in so doing, give your moral support to a people who are in much need of it.
