Palestine lauds Zim support: The Palestinian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Hashem Dajani has paid tribute to the government of Zimbabwe and other friendly countries for their support to the Palestinian people who are currently under Israeli occupation. Ambassador Dajani made the remarks during the occasion to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and the 1st anniversary of accepting Palestine as a non-member state of the United Nations. Ambassador Dajani said it is worrying that Israel continues to deny the Palestine people the right to self determination and has maintained the siege of the Gaza strip. He also expressed his country’s gratitude to friendly countries such as Zimbabwe for the support given the Palestine people during the current difficult times. Meanwhile, in his speech to mark the day, UN Secretary General Mr Ban ki Moon says the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is an opportunity to reflect on the critical situation faced by the Palestinian people and to consider the collective contributions. He said the situation in Gaza remains a source of concern. Palestinians continue to be displaced through house demolitions in some parts of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. This year alone at least 100 structures were demolished in the process displacing 300 people.
