Palestinian Association for Human Rights called all international humanitarian organizations and bodies for immediate intervention to stop violation in rights of detainees’ in Syrian regime’s prisons. This call followed news of killing 5 Palestinian detainees within a week. Ala’a Aboud, a member of the Association told Zaman Alwasl that Syrian intelligence informed parents of 5 detainees of their sons’s death, 4 of them from Yarmouk Camp, and the fifth from Qodsaya near Damascus. Aboud commented saying: “number of death among detainees either Palestinian or Syrian has increased recently, which draws attention to the worsening condition in Syrian regime prisons and raises greater worries about the rest of detainees, as that points out to the severity of the torture detainees are suffer from”. The Association member mentioned that torture in Syrian prisons violates all international agreements especially UN convention against torture which said in the second article: “each State Party shall take effective legislative, administrative, judicial or other measures to prevent acts of torture in any territory under its jurisdiction. No exceptional circumstances whatsoever, whether a state of war or a threat or war, internal political instability or any other public emergency, may be invoked as a justification of torture. An order from a superior officer or a public authority may not be invoked as a justification of torture.” Aboud ended wondering about the position and attitude of Syrian regime from international and humanitarian agreement.
