Palestinian UN Security Council vote - Nigeria abstained. For the first time in a long time Nigeria acted properly. Israeli - Palestinian conflict is a time bomb Nigeria cannot afford to throw herself into considering the religious make up and sentiments of Nigerians. Nigeria did not support and at the same time did not oppose. Unlike the following blunders we committed not too long ago 1. Handing over Charles Taylor to the Hague after convincing him to end the war in Liberia and move to Nigeria on exile. That betrayal of trust has diminished our capacity to mediate in serious conflicts in Africa. 2. Handing over Bakassi to Cameroun without firing a single shot even when over 3 million Nigerians had to die to keep Nigeria one according to some people. 3. Signing the piece of paper the US and NATO gave to 3 African nations (Nigeria, Guinea and South Africa) to agree to the military bombardment and destruction of Africas most prosperous nation Libya.
