Palhallan (Baramulla), Jan 16: The gang-rape of a 13 year old minor girl in Palhallan area of north Kashmirs Baramulla district, two weeks back, has sent shock waves in the area. The incident which took place in December last was reported belatedly to the police by the family of the victim due to social constraints. While narrating her ordeal, the girl said that she was forcibly bundled into a sumo by a local youth at a time when her mother was being operated in a Srinagar hospital. “Later the kidnapper forced me to drink some liquid which left me unconscious and when I regained my consciousness, I found myself in a house at some unknown place. I found three persons around me and I pleaded with them to leave me, but they showed no mercy, they tortured me and latter raped me one by one, said the 13 year old victim. Next day I was left by them near a hotel and when I confirmed about the place, the locals informed me that it was Islamabad (Anantnag). I did not narrate my ordeal to the people there and instead requested them to drop me at Palhallan Pattan. They took me to a nearby railway station wherefrom I reached my home, said the girl. The hospital authorities while confirming the rape told Greater Kashmir that after examining the girl it was found that she has been raped and had visible marks of torture all along her body. The girl has visible marks of torture and after examining her it was found that she has been raped, said Dr Nadia at sub-district hospital Pattan. The family of the victim while initially hesitant, finally decided to report the matter to the police to get the culprits punished. “After returning from the hospital where my wife was operated, we found that such a big tragedy has happened with our daughter. We were initially hesitant to report it, however, latter we decided not to keep mum and reported the incident in the Pattan police station, said the father of the girl. SSP Baramulla Zubair Ahmad told Greater Kashmir said they have already arrested one accused person and hunt is on to nab the other accomplices involved in the incident. We have dispatched two police parties and hope that all the accused persons will be arrested soon, said SSP.
