Pamela Turner Murungi I have a situation I would like to post to the group. I have a 14 year old daughter, who has been experiencing her cycle since she was about 12 and half. Her pre week is difficult, to put it lightly. Like most women, she has a change in temper and attitude, but I am suspicious that she is suffering from PMDD: premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I based the suspicion on a couple of things; fact that she has a Jekyll & Hyde difference between her pre week and the rest of the month, and the fact that Ive had personal experience with PMDD myself (in my early 30s) and so know the signs and symptoms. To add to the mix, she also suffers from anxiety / panic issues that are triggered by loud noises and crowds. Her GP has offered to refer me to a pediatric psychiatrist, but she shuts down when it comes to talking to strangers and I am reluctant to drug my child. This leaves me in the situation of being yelled at, screamed at and run away from, which in turn leaves me feeling hurt and upset and borderline resentful. Have any of the other parents of teenage daughters on this page experienced this problem?
