Pancho was fully vetted last week at our rescue clinic. He is such a friendly gentleman -we all wanted to give him a great chance. And guess what happened today @ Butts County AC? Purrs & thanks to all who contribute to our Fixed & Fabulous Program for fully vetting cats at this rural animal control --with your kind donations, miracles can happen! Our proactive Shelter Wellness program also supported by your donations is providing flea preventive & worming meds along with any medications as needed- under vet supervision. Combined with Butts County officials budget for initial fvrcp vaccinations--all these efforts are really making a wonderful difference for the felines at this pound. The county officials were inspired to add new Adoption hours 10-3 on Saturdays in addition to regular Monday thru Friday hours 8-5 to help their impounded animals -both cats & dogs find homes and rescues! The cats chosen by AC staff for their awesome purrsonalities for the program are combotested, receive all age appropriate vaccinations, are spayed/neutered & microchipped by our wonderful vet, Dr. Karen Thomas. We first initiated this proactive program @ Spalding County Animal Shelter where we also provided spay/neuter vouchers to increase direct adoptions of cats from that facility & still sponsor monthly Project Catsnip clinics with offering financial aid to local Spalding residents to fix their felines. Encouraged by the success of our Shelter Wellness & Fixed & Fabulous & S/N Voucher program there, we are thrilled to be allowed to bring these same programs to Butts County AC with the consent & support of their caring animal control staff. And we are especially grateful that the fixed cats are given freedom from their cages to exercise & play in the free roaming cat space as demonstrated here by Candy Apple -a terrific tuxedo gal hoping to find her forever home soon, too!
