Pangaea/Pangea was a supercontinent that existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras, forming about 300 million years ago. It began to break apart around 200 million years ago. Scientific studies have discovered that Afrika is the only Continent that is still connected to the Earth, all of the other continents are disconnected and drift apart. The single global ocean which surrounded Pangaea was named Panthalassa. The name Pangaea is derived from Ancient Greek words (pan) meaning "entire", and (Gaia) meaning "Earth".
