Luke 5:21) d) Pope Pius IX declared himself infallible in July of 1870; (Theological quarterly, Vol. XIII, 1909 p. 66) e) Pope Leo XIII, in an encyclical letter dated June 1894, said, ”We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty,” i.e. “We hold the regency of God on earth.” Note: These are not merely extravagant adulations of the Dark Ages, to be repudiated by the moderns; these terms express the unchanging doctrinal claims of the Roman Church, that put man in the place of God.
