PRESS RELEASE OF PHILOSOPHY AND LITERATURE SCHOOL, UNAM To the media and press To the student community and workers To the people of Mexico and the world In the context of the popular movement around the disappearance of 43 students of Ayotzinapa´s rural school (besides the murder of other 6 people, including 3 “normalistas”), the state is in full offensive. Since the night of the murders and disappearances, numerous protests had taken place all over the country, and repression has not wait to appear. The recent, and most shocking case in the capital of the country, is the case of Bryan Reyes (student at the National Music Scholl) and Jacqueline Santana (student at FES Aragón). Our partners were “raised” in an undercover operation of federal police, outside their home, the final goal was a state kidnap. This operation was frustrated by the fortuitous intervention of the capital police, unaware of the federal undercover operation. This is why a crime was invented so that our partners could be retained, they are both now in prison. Previously to this situation, Bryan, Jacqueline and Ulises Sánchez (who escaped operation) had reported, on numerous occasions, harassment from people dressed as civilians, outside their homes. Sandino Bucio Dovalí’s case is very similar to Bryan, Jaqueline and Ulises one. Sandino, student of Philosophy at UNAM, attended today (November 28) the General Assembly of the Philosophy and Literature School, which he abandoned at 17:00. He was walking towards the subway station Copilco when he was intercepted by four people in civilian clothes, driving a gray Monza with plates: 324WHD. One of this four persons wore a shirt own by the Federal Police. Sandino was standing in front of Restaurant Mount Kailas, located on a street named Philosophy and Literature, when this people dragged him towards the car, one of them pointed a handgun at his head. The people that were in the place tried to prevent the abduction, but another of those subjects pointed a long gun towards the crowd. Is to notice that the people who took Sandino never expressed where they were taking him. Multiple photographic and video evidence as well as oral interviews were taken at the place, and can be found in the Facebook profile of Edges Assembly. It is important to stress that this event is not an isolated case, besides Bryan Reyes, Jacqueline Santana and Sandino Bucio, there have been another series of arrests such as the ones of Luis Fernando Sotelo, Julian Luna and 11 more persons that were at the November 20th manifestation, near the Zocalo. There are also 4 persons that were arrested in the area surrounding the airport in Mexico City, they have already been sentenced. All these people were beaten by members of the capital and federal police. It is to notice that the 11 people apprehended on November 20 were transferred to Maximum Security Prisons in the states of Nayarit and Veracruz. It is also necessary to recall the recent police and military incursions into Ciudad Universitaria (CU, UNAM) that happened in recent months. The maximum expression - so far - was on November 15, 2014, when a graduate student of the College of History, was hit by a bullet in the foot, the gun was triggered by an agent of the Federal Police ( which by the way has already been released). It is clear the complicity of the authorities of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with this repressive situation since October 30, 2014, the General Assembly of the Philosophy and Literature School reported spying by the authorities of this institute, when the students found a camera inventoried from college, with photographs and videos dating from 2012 that day. This spy has had tragic consequences, such as the murder of student Carlos Cuevas Sinuhé in April 2011. Therefore the university authorities, headed by José Narro Robles, are accomplice of this policy, that has the goal of destroying all dissident to the State (which at the moment is headed by Enrique Peña Nieto). At national level it is important to mention the recent detention by elements of the Municipal Police of 60 normalistas of the Rural Normal School of Atequiza, Jalisco. There is also to mention the presence of soldiers in the Autonomous University of Coahuila, which provided a list of students active in political mobilizations. The vilification, harassment, imprisonment and murder of social activists in every corner of the country is part of a clear policy that seeks to end any political resistance, whether they are dissident teachers of the CNTE, normalistas of Rural Normal Schools in the country, or any organized students group. IT WAS THE STATE! WE WANT OUR 43 PARTENRS OF AYOTZINAPA’S NORMAL SCHOOL ALIVE! WE WANT THE IMMEDIATE LIBERATION OF POLITICAL PRISONERS, ACTUALLY KIDNAPPED BY THE STATE!
