Paradise Lost Story I would like to write: After her mother dies, the new Ishtar is crowned Goddess of Babylon. Ishtar holds a contest and warriors compete to be the new Marduk, guardian of her hearth and the warrior king who fathers the next Ishtar. Ishtar bears a son and they name him the Light Bearer and Son of the Morning Star. Ishtar is pregnant again and the new Marduk realizes that when the daughter grows up and becomes crowned Ishtar, he will be pushed aside as Marduk like the old one who is bitter and angry. Marduk strangles Ishtar and replaces her with a gold statue. Marduk raises his son to be the new king. Marduk falls in love with a young woman and she bears him a son. When his second son is grown, he presents him to the nation as the one who will rule after him. His first son organizes a rebellion and they fight a war, and he and his followers are cast out of heaven and wander into the wilderness where they start a new colony. The first son goes to a garden where a man and woman run a huge fruit orchard, and convinces them to follow him instead. I would write this tale, except it is the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible, and John Milton already wrote it as Paradise Lost.
