Paraka faces more charges Cedric Patjole 0 Comment Sep 4, 2014 - PNG Loop Principal of Paul Paraka Lawyers, Paul Paraka appeared at the Waigani Committal Court yesterday with more charges of corruption. Paraka appeared before Magistrate Mekeo Gauli, where over ten charges include money laundering (five counts), false pretence (five counts) and conspiracy were read to him. The charges are in relation to the alleged illegal payments of K163 million to his law firm by the State. That matter has been adjourned to Oct 31st 2014. //////////////////////////////////// Magistrate arrested Cedric Patjole 0 Comment Sep 4, 2014 - PNG Loop Waigani District Court Magistrate Pimson Pindipia was arrested and charged for corruption on Tuesday by Police fraud squad detectives. Pindipia was arrested and locked up at Boroko Police cells but was released later on K2000 bail. He was expected to appear before a Committal Court today. It is understood that arrangements are being made for a Magistrate from outside of Port Moresby to preside over the case. Pindipia was arrested last month on similar charges but was later released. He is expected to appear again tomorrow. ////////////////////////////////// Magistrate Pinson Pindipia was initially picked up from a pokies place in Port Moresby in July and detained for questioning in relation to a certificate of discharge that he granted to Paul Paraka after Paul Paraka was arrested in July for the second time and charged with 32 counts over more than K242 million in public funds. Paul Paraka was first arrested in September last year over the amount of K71.8 million. Paraka was found hiding at a small village near Kupiano in September last year and charged with 18 counts. He is now facing 60 counts.
