The Nazis demonized the Jews, blaming Germanys economic problems on them and persuading a largely rural, uninformed populace to cooperate with Germanys ethnic cleansing pogroms. The tea party Republicans are blaming the disappearing middle class for its own demise, which is the result of corporate and judicial malfeasance, slanting the tax code to favor the already-rich, and threatening to dismantle the protective programs into which we have been paying for decades.
