Pardon my rant on such a beautiful Sunday... Apparently Ive exceeded the threshold of my unlimited data volume and am now being throttled down to slower than EDGE/2G throughput speeds. Great. And I still have 19 days left on this cycle. Neato. NOT. Seems to me there is something wrong with them being able to continue to refer to it as unlimited, when clearly, there is a physical limitation of how much data could possibly be used when the speed is cranked down to slower-than-Pony-Express velocity. Once you hit the 5-6 GB threshold during the cycle, at 0.4-0.5 Mbps, there is a physical, mathematically calculable limitation to how much data could possibly be used in the remainder of the cycle. Whats really worst of all, is that AT&T is one of two carriers that actually serve the remote part of the middle-of-the-middle I need to use it in (less than 50 miles from KCMO) that has (normally) decent bandwidth. Im calling Shenanigans on all the Internet service providers – wired, wireless, cable and satellite – that advertise they provide coverage and/or service for the contiguous regions indicated on their respective coverage maps. The percentage of non-metro, non-freeway-corridor coverage any of them actually provide is easily in the single-digit range.
