Parent Nation, dont do things like this to teach your children the love of giving or how to behave better. If her children have a sense of entitlement, she and her husband taught it to them over years and years of giving in, not setting boundaries and giving too much...now she wants to change all that programming with a single crack of Santas whip? Nope...not gonna work. She talks about months of trying to change...well, if your kids are several YEARS old, its gonna take a while. So buckle up Mom, youre going to have to be in it for the long haul, just like you expect your kids to be. And finally, making giving to those in need into a personal punishment does NOT instill a love of giving. It makes it a concept that is surrounded by resentment and bad memories. So why not try giving the kids ONE gift they really long for and have the whole family spend the rest of Christmas at a shelter where they can give gifts and cook for and play with kids who truly are doing without. And make it personally rewarding instead of personally offensive? Thats my twenty-five cents! What say YOU Parent Nation?
