Parent responsibility can be an overwhelming feeling. We are responsible for the care and well being of our children till they are old enough to be responsible for their own lives. God has entrusted us to raise HIS children. We are given the awesome job of teaching them the ways of Jesus. We are to make sure they are taught to know the love of Christ. The hard part comes when they grow up! All of a sudden they are making their own decisions. They have to choose what kind of clothes they wear, who their friends are, social choices, and of course who they will worship. The word tells us in Proverbs 22:6 New American Standard Bible (NASB)6 Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it. So teach them right and they will choose God right? James 4:17 ESV So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. God gives us each free will to choose who we will serve. I love the plaque that says, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord”. Oh if it were only that easy! So what can we do as parents to ensure our child chooses eternity? Well, we can teach them, pray for them, and live the example. Even though our children may choose to go a little wild, they will always recall the words said to them. Sometimes we may never live to see them return to Jesus. We prayerfully continue to love them unconditionally, after all, Christ died for them just as they are. Sometimes, when you’re not looking, Satan may speak lies to your heart. He may tell you that you didn’t raise them right, and things like that. Just know that the word tells us in John 8:44 that Satan is the father of lies. John 10:10 tells us that Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. He will use what-ever he can to persuade our thinking. He will have us so sad, and down on ourselves that we will not be able to live in the moment. Reject those lies of Satan. Continue to pray for your child and look at all the positives. Don’t fall into that trap! Prayer is so important! Pray that God puts someone in their path to share the good news with them. Sometimes it is better to come from someone who is not their mom and dad. The hardest prayer a parent can pray is, “Lord what ever it takes, bring my child to know You as their Savior!” Then hold on for a rough ride! I will be praying for parents everywhere, that you will find joy while praying your children through! There are no sweeter words than Mama, I want to know Jesus! Let it be so! Happy Thursday!
