Parents Support Amosun’s Second Term Bid The National Parent Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), Ogun State chapter has adopted the state Governor Ibikunle Amosun for the 2015 election. The state chairman of the body, Pastor Peculiar Treasure, who made the announcement at the conferment ceremony of a Grand Patron Award on the governor said Amosun administration’s achievements in the education sector is the reason for the adoption. At the ceremony held in Abeokuta, the parents commended Amosun for “Saving over 33,000 school pupils from dropping out of the state public schools after the past administration returned some schools to their missionary owners.” “In the light of the above, the PTA was forced to approach His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, to present our plight and he promised that he would build new ones, and we are all living witnesses today to see a promise kept,” the PTA boss stated. Treasure said that, “in consideration of the above, parents of children of school age in Ogun State, numbering about 250,000 are endorsing the governor for a second term in office so that his good work can continue.” His words, “We in the PTA desire a glorious and wonderful destiny for our children in life and it can only be achieved via acquisition of knowledge. In the light of this, we are thanking God for giving us a governor that has passion for our children and their educational pursuit. He that gives knowledge gives light, direction and future.” Amosun, who was represented by the Education Commissioner, Barrister Odubela, thanked the parents for the gesture and commended them for supporting the administration’s free education efforts.
