Parents of Children: When/How do you tell your child there is no Santa Claus? (And thus falls Elf on the Shelf, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy et al). And if you have done it, how did your child react? The advice to wait until they discover it on their own may not work for me. Sometimes the time is nigh and is not in your control. If your child has a close friend or family member the same age who KNOWS, 1. Your child is not going to appreciate being the one left out of that knowledge and 2. When those same friends are worried about your child still being blindsided by something that is not true, you really cant keep your child in the dark much longer. I never expected to be the one to actively make the decision. I am actually hoping someone has some cute tradition or poem or something that they use to break the news.
