Parents see their children as an extension of themselves nowadays. There is desperation to see them doing all the right things which will uphold them in other peoples esteem (relatives, friends, peers, colleagues, etc). In doing so the guardians end up hurting their own flesh and blood so much that there is a lot of elective mutism involved. A child having elected to resist by demure existence. It is a small price to pay for the status quo. What could be more devastating than that? So hats off to all those parents who stand by their childrens individuality and expression be it taking up music as a career, body piercings, tattoos, love for poetry and generally being their selves! I know going against the grain that they are subjected to! Salute! You are richer than anybody on this planet. You have a childs sincere love and devotion not manipulative acceptance and shrewd loyalty!
