Paris, 24 August, 2014: Memories of ‘La Nueve”. Moving half-hour video recording the 70th anniversary march and celebrations of the Liberation of Paris by the Spanish Republicans – and anarchists – of ‘La Nueve’ (the 9th Co of General Leclerc’s 2nd Armoured Division). The English translation of Evelyn Mesquida’s ‘La Nueve’ should be available in late January 2015. (Evelyn is the founder of the ‘Asociación 24 Août 1944). Historical note: much of the materiel used by the anarchist urban and rural anti-Francoist guerrillas from the 1940s until the early ‘60s came from clandestine arms caches organised by the anarchists of ‘La Nueve’ (particularly Sgt Major Martín Bernal and Lt Miguel Campos) in conjunction with the Defence Commission of the Spanish Libertarian Movement in Exile , MLE). vimeo/110559567
