Park Jin Young (J.Y.Park) announces that G-Soul is finally ’Coming Home’ After so many years of practice, practice, and practice, JYP Entertainment’s anticipated trainee is finally debuting. On January 9, J.Y.Park left a very long post about G-Soul. The post is the following: 15 years of passion. In 2001, I met a kid. He was such a shy and good 6th grader who couldn’t even look at people in the eyes, but interestingly enough, his singing had more black soul than a black person. Due to his difficult family situations, he walked to and from school for two months, and with the bus tokens he saved up, he bought Boyz II Men tapes and listened to them until the tapes stretched out to overcome his struggles. I believe that’s where the emotions came from. His talents were so astounding that I sent him to the US to study. Since he was a trainee with a debut date not yet set, it was a situation where he would only receive little support, but despite all that, he still worked hard and practiced, growing himself more. His songs amazed US musicians, and one of the best producers agreed to help create his US debut album. We were floating on cloud nine. However, during the preparation process, the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy occurred, and unlike Korea, the music record labels, which are controlled by the financial capital, all went into reduced budgets and restructuring, nullifying projects that were burdensome. Debuting an Asian singer in the US was, of course, at the top of the list, so all the projects of the JYP rookie artists were cancelled, and sometime later, we had to pull out of the US. But during this time, he said he wanted to stay behind in the America alone. He said that there’s still a lot for him to learn. I told him that with his skills, he could become the best and be acknowledged in Korea, suggesting a Korean debut, but he stayed put. He ended up staying behind. Despite the lacking support from the agency, he went about the US underground music scene alone and increased his skills. After nine years in the US, he returned to Korea with 20 self-composed songs. My ears couldn’t believe what they heard. The shy boy from 15 years ago came back to me as an amazing artist. His painful childhood, his difficult family situation, the loneliness of being abroad – all of these could not block out his passion for music. I want to introduce this kid to everyone now. Everyone, it’s G-Soul. The debut teaser video for G-Soul was also unveiled, showing clips of G-Soul singing, practicing, and challenging himself in the US. At the end of the video, the phrase, “Coming Home” was revealed, signaling his upcoming debut on January 19.
