Parliamentary Secretary Deepak Obhrai represents Canada at the Pacific Island Forum: Canada continues its focus on the Pacific region as a key area of engagement in trade, development, and bilateral ties. As part of this strategic focus on the Pacific region, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Deepak Obhrai will represent Canada at the Pacific Island Forum, taking place in Majuro, Marshall Islands. There he will engage in dialogue on priority areas with Pacific nations and discuss matters of international concern. The Parliamentary Secretary will attend a session on “Small Island Developing States” that will highlight the unique circumstances facing the Pacific region and ask how these issues can be addressed. Mr. Obhrai will also conduct a bilateral discussion with the Honourable Toke Talagi, Premier of Niue.
