Parsons City Manager Steps Down City Manager Fred Gress resigned from his post Tuesday morning during a special city commission meeting. The Parsons City Commission met in several executive sessions on Tuesday morning citing discussion of non-elected personnel. When returning to open session, Mayor Bill Hogelin announced Gress’ resignation. The commission proceeded to accept his resignation and offer Gress a severance package with salary and health insurance through the end of the year. The package was passed 4 to 1 in favor. Gress started working for the city of Parsons nearly 6-1/2 years ago, relocating his family to Parsons from Willard, Mo., where he served as City Administrator. He is originally from Independence, Kan. Mayor Bill Hogelin said on behalf of the city commission, he “appreciates all Fred has done for our community and we wish him and his family well in the future.” Gress’ last official day is Tuesday, September 9.
