Part 1 of 3 from The Nozzle Forward in Ft Washington, PA...The host: Fort Washington Fire Company No. 1 First I want to talk about the guys that hosted this event. They can really put on a good show. If youre thinking of hosting a large group, you might want to think about asking these guys for advice. They thought of everything. The classroom was high tech and had everything youd expect for a lecture session. Breakfast both days had plenty of variety and volume, they definitely knew they were feeding firefighters and had more than enough. During the hands on (and there was lots of hands on) they had plenty of equipment to keep everyone busy constantly at multiple skill stations. The remote training site was huge and allowed up to 5 or 6 scenarios to run at the same time without interfering with each other. To limit vehicles on site they provided a bus to get everyone to and from the location. They had plenty of snacks, water, and Gatorade right there on site within a stones throw of the work area so you could get your snack on and stay hydrated. They catered in a simple but awesome lunch and overfed us yet again, no one complained. I point this out because weve all been to the class where the only thing on site was some warm and nasty water dribbling from a rusty water fountain, and the closest 7-11 was 6 miles away. To me, having those perks on site means they care about their guests comfort.
