Part 12 His name is Matt Dillon McAllister nicknamed “Mac” he was a civilian contractor years ago when Michael was in the Intelligence that had a way with computers. Michael took an instant liking to him not just because of his ability around computers but his ability to overcome his shortcomings and have a positive outlook on life and love. He never married but he said it wasn’t because he was in a wheelchair for the rest of his life it was because he was just too darn picky. Just looking at the way he said that it made Michael laugh could tell that was just a jest but he also commented that “listen, just because I’m in a wheelchair does not make me feel inferior, I just know that other parts of my body make up for my lost use of legs”. With that Michael had to just raise his eyebrow and Mac chuckled and continued “get your mind out of the gutter Sticks I mean my brain I was always a natural with computers so I know my limitations and my strengths. Just like my mom who named me after the character on Gunsmoke she refused to give up and would not let it get me down”. Through it all Michael knew he would be a great friend so he also knew he would be the one to talk to about this. He drove about 300 miles out of town and found his place near the water front, in what seemed to be an abandoned warehouse and went to the door “knocked” and waited for a bit till he got to the door, as he continued to wait he heard what seemed to be mumbling something about “hang on only can move so fast for this old man”. The door opened and Mac looked like he did years ago with just a bit more gray hair and as he did he looked up and a big smile came across his face and he says “Sticks!!”. “Come on in you old warhorse it’s good to see you”, Michael just smiled and said “it’s good to see you also Mac how have you been?” Mac’s smile faded and remembered hearing on all the news about what happened and said “a lot better then you I’m afraid I head what happened and I’m sorry.” Michael stared at him for a moment and said “I have learned from you to not dwell too much on the bad things but I hate to say I have failed on that part, but I am dealing with it the way I can and will.” Mac looked at him solemnly and said “yes I know and I have a feeling that the guy is going to pay for what happened, I have only heard what the news told me. How about giving me the real version?” Is all Michael could do was stare at him for a moment then sat down and as if a bit of the weight went out on him as he explained everything to his long time friend.
