Part 18 A Call to holiness The Person and Attributes of Jesus Christ Hebrews 2:1-4 For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard so that we do not drift away from it. Why should we pay much closer attention to what we have heard? Because JESUS is Immutable. Hebrews 1:8-12 But of the Son Ee says, Your throne, o God, is forever and ever, and the Righteous scepter is the scepter of his kingdom.”You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your companions. and, You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of Your hands; they will perish, but You remain; and they all will become old like a garment, and like a mantle You will roll them up; like a garment they will also be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will not come to an end. Reason thirteen: Because JESUS is Immutable. We have read that the earth and the heavens is the works of His hands and that they will be changed and will perish but that Jesus will always be the same. He is unchangeable as it is written: Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Now if He is unchangeable then also is His Word. 1 Peter 1:25 BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER. And this is the word which was preached to you. Therefore if He hates and hated unrighteousness before, will He not also today and tomorrow? And if he said that no man will inherit the Kingdom of God lest he be born again, will He then allow them in without? If so, His Word will not endure and thus will not be the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. By implication, then Jesus wouldn’t endure either for He is the Word of God. The same Jesus said: “IF you continue in My Word”; If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. Is it then not His Word which urges us to pay much closer attention to what we have heard? Jesus will never change and neither will His Word. He is the same Jesus who died on Calvary so that your sin could be abolished, He is the same Jesus who ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God ever interceding for you that you may receive all the blessings which is in Christ Jesus, and He is the same Jesus who will one day return to take His children to heaven and to destroy all those evildoers who rendered his truth inoperable and suppressed it in unrighteousness. Yes those who deny the Gospel of holiness or any other doctrine taught in Scripture for that matter. This is why we should consider His words all the more.
