Part 2 - This has been a great season This year we had Year 12 players even more then last year and the level of 1st XV rugby is getting higher and also younger cause there have been more Year 11s blown up this past year. I was well aware of the Top 100 Year 12 players coming through but there were some that really come out Bangn and are only looking up for next year and I cant wait to see how they come back from the off season. So the guys I knew about like Losi Filipo Centre and Asafo Aumua Hooker Silverstream, Dalton Papalii Open Side St Kents, Alex Fidow Prop Scots College, Tiaan Falcon 1st 5/8 Lindisfarne Colllege and Lona Halaholo No.8 MAGS these guys to me and many others where very familiar and I watched them closely but then there are the others the ones that stood up. Marino Mikaele - Tuu Blind Side/No.8 Hastings BHS - A big players who will make some real noise next year as either a No.8 or a Blind Side. He has been invited to the Top 50 Camp with the NZSS and should come away with improvements to his game. He is a very good runner out wide and close to the pack. He has very strong defence and hits hard every game. Sione Asi Prop Otago BHS - Another Tu Toa product that has left and went down south to Otago BHS and really stepped up his game. He is a very strong player who hits hard on defence and can cleans out bodies at the rucks. He can hold a solid scrum and is fit making him a massive threat through out the whole game. Samisoni Taukeiaho Prop/Hooker St Pauls Collegiate - I would rather him at Hooker for his scrumming very strong and steady in the middle of the scrum. It is easy to see what he bring because he breaks tackles every run and he is very unselfish and is a motivator and leader in the team and dosent shy away from the dirty grunt work in the rucks. Raymond Nuu Centre St Andrews College - Centres are going to have a battle next year and Ray just through his name in the ring and hes ready to go at it. He is very explosive off the line and has very good timing for the play. He hits the line hard and gets off the mark quick and changes direction at speed and thats going to be a real problem for players next year that have to mark him. Liam Giltrap Blind Side Palmerston North BHS - A guy who every team needs hes the do it all guy and do what you dont want to do guy. He just hears that whistle and gets to work. Plays hard and at pace making tackles, cleaning out bodies and supporting runners. He is a very good line out option and can lift a team with his game play. Ezekial Lundermuth Prop MAGS - I remeber Ezekial from last year when I would go to MAGS trainings and I would see him in the 2nd XV with the long hair and thought he got some real good size. Then seeing him this year he really man handled some high profiled Props in the 1A. Physical, strong, very fit, mobile and a beast on the Set!! U18 Blues this year so look for him. Josh McKay 1st 5/8 Christchurch BHS - He was a bit undercover because with a Super Star mid field you kind of get pushed to the back. Josh took real control of the team showing how he can control the pace of the game and adjust well out to momentum shifts in games. I think next year with his kicking game he will really bother some Fullback, he finds space on field and finds the grass to give his team more time. Braydon Ennor Centre St Kentigerns - A guy who took advantage of the TV game and just showed what he could do against one of the best in the country. Braydon is going to be very interesting next year cause hes the only Centre that plays a more spacing game then physical. He reads the game well and knows when and where to hit the line, uses his outside speed to get around players. Thomas Umaga-Jensen 2nd 5/8 Scots College - Should I have to say anything? Watch the Semi and Finals NUF SED!! Salele (Wiseguy) Faiane 1st 5/8 Auckland GS - One thing I found with Wiseguy was that there was always a way. When he plays it always looks like hes thinking there is always a way to break the line, get the spacing he wants, spreading the field, bringing a player down and winning the game. He just continues to push the boundaries of what he can do and it showed from the preseason against Dilworth all the way to Semis something to watch for next year.
