Part 2- breathing and oxygen It happens quickly. The rapid increase in heart rate, the loss of breath, the slight mental and emotional paranoia setting in signifying the exit from the training comfort zone and into a state of physical, mental and emotional pain, suffering and agony. the fight within to combat the urge to get back into the comfort zone and also to reach new heights of unbelievable physical aching and mental and emotional chaos! Maximizing the transition time to regulate your breathing and prevent vomiting. This is known as the PME Hard Gauntlet and if all of this abnormal stuff seems normal to you, then you are training effectively and efficient and can attain your goals. Leading up to my brutal gauntlets I crave them like a drug, but the closer I get to start time, a part of me dreads the inevitable pain and suffering. Still I push on to the workout, and when my teammate leading the gauntlet shouts "are you ready?" A voice in my head wants to shout back "no I am not ready!" But I drive on, for in order for me to get better and more fit, I must pay the price to get there. I understand this, accept this, and look forward to it. All of this constant struggle is normal to me and I thrive off of it. If you are the same way, count yourself as PME Hard!
