Part 2 The Quran confirms with the Tawrah and the Tawrah - TopicsExpress

Part 2 The Quran confirms with the Tawrah and the Tawrah confirms with the Quran that Isaac was the promise son of Abraham and not Ishmael and it was Isaac who was the sacrificial son. Allah says, And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think. He said, O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast. Then when aslamā (both of them had submitted) and he put him down upon his forehead, We called to him, O Abraham, You have fulfilled the vision. Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. Indeed, this was the clear trial. And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice, And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: Peace upon Abraham. Sura 37/102-198 Context Analysis: Here is the important duaa made by Prophet Abraham: rabbi (My Lord), hab (grant) lī (me) mina (of) salihina (the righteous). Sura 37/100 Now It is significant to note that Prophet Abrahams duaa / prayer above in Sura 37/100 is different from what is commonly believed within minds of most Muslims. rabbi (My Lord), hab (grant) lī (me) mina (of) salihina (the righteous). Sura 37/100 It is mere speculation and assumption to assume that a salihina is only restricted to a child of male gender. In this case the salihina happened to be of the male gender, but the gender was not the focal point of the dua / prayer at all. Abraham requested that Allah grant him a righteous child hence it was the character of the child that was being sought by Abraham to be granted. Allah says, So We gave him good tidings bighulāmin (of a boy) ḥalīmin (forbearing). Sura 37/101 Now mind you the parallels and contrasts with the prayer made by the mother of Mary, who wanted to offer the child in her stomach to the Lord expecting it to be a boy. However, she was granted a female instead - Mary. Mention, when the wife of Imran said, My Lord, indeed I have pledged to You what is in my womb, consecrated, so accept this from me. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing. Sura 3/35 In contrast with Prophet Abrahams duaa there is no mention of gender but only one of character. So we have Allah confirming to Prophet Abraham that he would have a boy forbearing the narrative then continues with regards Prophet Abrahams dream and his call to sacrifice the same child. Again, at this stage all one can ascertain of the identity, is that the child is a boy who is forbearing. So now we have Sura 37/112 And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, nabiyyan (a prophet) mina (from) among ṣāliḥīna (the righteous). Sura 37/112 Here we have for the very first time the name Isaac is mentioned in the narrative. However many mainstream Sunni and Shite scholars and others make the unwarranted connection that this constitutes news of the coming of a new child called Isaac As the Bayinaat (Clear Evidence) suggest context analysis the above ayat tells us that the only new pieces of information that are being imparted are: (a) A name (Isaac) (b) Who happens to be Nabiyyan (a Prophet) (c) Who happens to be of salihina (the righteous) Now we can see that there is no mention of the birth of a new child. Some say by arguing that Isaac was not a born Prophet but acquired his wisdom in later years much like many other prophets such as Prophets Joseph, Moses, Muhammad and Abraham himself. So We gave him good tidings bighulāmin (of a boy) ḥalīmin (forbearing). Sura 37/101 Therefore, the lack of a name in verse Sura 37/101 is firmly in keeping with the fact that no name had been given at this stage, nor had he attained to Prophethood or was confirmed as being of the Saliheen (righteous). So now we have the Arabic word salihina and with context analysis of Sura 37/101 when a male childs birth is confirmed, there is still no confirmation whether he would be of the righteous salihina. The only confirmation that is given is that he would be a child that would be ready to suffer and halimin (forbear). In Arabic there is a difference between salihina (of the righteous) and Halimin (that are ready to suffer, forbear, are clement or patient). So We gave him good tidings bighulāmin (of a boy) ḥalīmin (forbearing). Sura 37/101 However, in Sura 37/112 we specifically note the confirmation of the request made in Prophet Abrahams original duaa / prayer in Sura 37/100. rabbi (My Lord), hab (grant) lī (me) mina (of) salihina (the righteous). Sura 37/100 ==> mina (of) salihina (the righteous) And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, nabiyyan (a prophet) mina (from) among ṣāliḥīna (the righteous). Sura 37/112 ==> mina (from) among ṣāliḥīna (the righteous versus So We gave him good tidings bighulāmin (of a boy) ḥalīmin (forbearing). Sura 37/101 ==> bighulāmin (of a boy) ḥalīmin (forbearing) Again with context analysis the ayats are very clear which the Quran again confirms the Tawrah and the Tawrah confirms the Quran in regards to who was the sacrificial son. Hence, the Quran gives us the character who was salihina, which was the original duaa / prayer made by Prophet Abraham but also one of prophethood. Therefore, it appears from context analysis that these confirmations constitute the Basharna (good news) and not the coming of a new child. So if we take the second good news does not necessarily inform the us of the birth of a new child, but rather gives further glad tidings with regards an existing child named Isaac. If both ayats in Sura 37/101 and in Sura 37/112 are compared So We gave him good tidings bighulāmin (of a boy) ḥalīmin (forbearing). Sura 37/101 And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, nabiyyan (a prophet) mina (from) among ṣāliḥīna (the righteous). Sura 37/112 We have the first being that the good news was of a boy in Sura 37/101. The second good news was that of Isaac who was the same boy who was now chosen to become a Prophet and was confirmed as being one salihina (of the righteous). Abraham made duaa to have a child of the righteous of course,: rabbi (My Lord), hab (grant) lī (me) mina (of) salihina (the righteous). Sura 37/100 Furthermore, if the contrary position is to be accepted which Sunnis and Shites believe that the sacrificial son was Prophet Ishmael it becomes difficult to reconcile why a name would be necessary in Sura 37/112 when it is absent in Sura 37/101, if both verses are capturing the birth of new children. And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, nabiyyan (a prophet) mina (from) among ṣāliḥīna (the righteous). Sura 37/112 Again, context analysis gives us the whole narrative captured in in Sura 37/100 - 113 and tells us that it was Prophet Isaac, the son that Prophet Abraham saw in a dream to be sacrificed. So when the Tawrah says Elohim tested Abraham its right on point: Some time later Elohim tested Abraham. He said to him, Abraham! Here I am, he replied. Genesis 22/1 The test of Abraham hence he rejected the religion (idolatry) of his father Terach (Josh. 24:2). Joshua said to all the people, This is what Yahuwah, the Elohim of Israel, says: Long ago your ancestors, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River and worshiped other gods. Joshua 24/2 Abraham was tested by leaving the country of his birth for an unknown land (Gen. 12:1). Yahuwah had said to Abram, Go from your country, your people and your fathers household to the land I will show you. Genesis 12/1 Abraham was tested with famine upon entry to the Promised Land (Gen. 12:10). Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe. Genesis 12/10 Abraham was tested by dealing with Sarahs abductions (Gen. 12:14-15; 20:2). It came about when Abram came into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful. Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house. Therefore he treated Abram well for her sake; and gave him sheep and oxen and donkeys and male and female servants and female donkeys and camels. Genesis 12/14-16 But Yahuwah struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife. Then Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife? “Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her for my wife? Now then, here is your wife, take her and go.” Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they escorted him away, with his wife and all that belonged to him. Genesis 12/17-20 Abraham was tested by interceding for Lot and fighting against the four kings (Gen. 14:12-16). They also took Lot, Abram’s nephew, and his possessions and departed, for he was living in Sodom. Then a fugitive came and told Abram the Hebrew. Now he was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, and these were allies with Abram. Wen Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. He divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus. He brought back all the goods, and also brought back his relative Lot with his possessions, and also the women, and the people. Genesis 14/12-16 Abraham was tested experiencing the dreadful vision of future captivity (Gen. 15:1-21). After these things the word of Yahuwah came to Abram in a vision, saying, Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you; Your reward shall be very great.” Abram said, “O Yahuwah Elohim, what will You give me, since I am childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “Since You have given no offspring to me, one born in my house is my heir.” Then behold, the word of Yahuwah came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir.” And He took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” Then he believed in Yahuwah; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness. And He said to him, “I am Yahuwah who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to possess it.” He said, “O Yahuwah Elohim, how may I know that I will possess it?” So He said to him, “Bring Me a three year old heifer, and a three year old female goat, and a three year old ram, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” Then he brought all these to Him and cut them in two, and laid each half opposite the other; but he did not cut the birds. The birds of prey came down upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away. Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, terror and great darkness fell upon him. Elohim said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years. “But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve, and afterward they will come out with many possessions. As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried at a good old age. “Then in the fourth generation they will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet complete.” It came about when the sun had set, that it was very dark, and behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a flaming torch which passed between these pieces. On that day Yahuwah made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I have given this land, From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates: the Kenite and the Kenizzite and the Kadmonite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Rephaim and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite.” Genesis 15:1-21 Abraham was tested Undergoing painful circumcision at age 99 (Gen. 17:10). This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. Genesis 17/10 Abraham was tested for enduring the infertility of Sarah, despite the promise of an heir (Gen. 11:30; 15:3). Now Sarai was childless because she was not able to conceive. Genesis 11/30 And Abram said, You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir. Genesis 15/3 Abraham was tested for evicting his wife Hagar and his firstborn son Ishmael (Gen. 21:9-14). Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking. Therefore she said to Abraham, “Drive out this maid and her son, for the son of this maid shall not be an heir with my son Isaac.” The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son. But Elohim said to Abraham, “Do not be distressed because of the lad and your maid; whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac your descendants shall be named. “And of the son of the maid I will make a nation also, because he is your descendant.” So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder, and gave her the boy, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba. Genesis 21/9-14 Abraham was tested for intending on sacrificing his beloved son Isaac as a burnt offering in which I just presented evidence about in Gen. 22:1-19. When they came to the place of which Elohim had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Genesis 22/9 Because the Sovereign Yahuwah helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame. Isaiah 50/7 The Quran tells us Abraham was tried by his Lord with certain commands which he fulfilled: “And remember that Abraham was ibtalā (tried / tested) by his Lord bikalimātin (with certain Commands / words), which he fulfilled: He said: I will make you an Imam lilnnāsi . He pleaded: And also (Imams) from dhurriyyatī (my offspring)! He answered: But My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers. Sura 2:124
