Part 3 A relationship from the past For some reason I took the long way home, I guess I needed more time to reminisce about how Jamar… ok, I said his name. O.M.G… I can’t remember the last time his name came from my lips, just the thought of repeating his name made me warm all over. I told myself to stop, but all those good moments we shared became very vivid. Getting back to reality, I turned up the radio and you guessed it, our favorite song was playing, “THE CLOSER I GET TO YOU” BY NONE OTHER THAN ROBERTA FLACK AND DONNY HATHAWAY!! I said to myself “Why is this happening to me?” I love the man I am with, but for some odd reason feelings for Jamar have emerged. Finally, I arrived home. My boyfriend Tyler had already made it home from work. As soon as I walked inside, he started questioning me. Go figure, what would you expect from a live - in boyfriend who has his own issues and insecurities? I really wasn’t up for any drama, so… I told him there was an accident on the freeway, so I took the long way home. Still sore from the fall, I kicked off my shoes and headed for the bathroom to take a long, soothing bath. Oh, I forgot to mention, I did tell him about what happened at the supermarket; stop, don’t even go there… I did not say anything about” Mr. Relationship from the past", I just gave him a brief account of what happened. The only thing he had to say was,” Really, you fell on your butt?” I looked at him and he had this silly grin on his face. He had me feeling some kind of way. I told him since he thinks what happened to me was so funny he could have the pleasure of cooking dinner tonight. I turned the bath water off, got undressed and sat down in the tub. The warmth from the water felt so good. As I closed my eyes and relaxed my body, I began to daydream once again. My thoughts drifted back to the time when Jamar and I was a couple. Seeing him after so many years brought back fond memories. He still had that FINE BODY, seductive eyes and not to mention the way he said “Ava? Is it you? Ava is it really you after all these years? It’s really good to see you!” Trying to keep my composure intact, I said, “Hi Jamar, it’s good to see you as well.”
