Part 5 Under law or under grace? Rom 6: 14 For sin shall - TopicsExpress

Part 5 Under law or under grace? Rom 6: 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. How do we then die to sin? 1. The first sermon Jesus preached was to repent: Matthew 4:17 this word, repent, literally means to change your mind or direction. Before now you lived in sin serving sin, so to repent would mean to turn from that path and to choose to accept Jesus, to ask Him to come live in your hart, and to serve him henceforth. 2. We also see in God’s Word that if we confess our sins to God, asking Him to forgive us, He is faithful and just to forgive us. 1 John 1:9 3. If we were true and honest in our repentance, God will then give us the miracle gift of being born again. And if we are born again then Paul says that we are now become dead to the law. Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. Paul also wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. • Through these verses it is then clear that in order to be freed from the law and therefore be under grace, we have to be born again. We also see this very clearly in Jesus’ answer to Nicodemus in; John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Note that Jesus did not say verily, verily, I say unto you except a man is under grace he cannot see the kingdom of heaven. He said except a man is born again he cannot see the kingdom of heaven. So if a person is truly born again, only then is he freed from the law, only then is he under grace and not under the law. Yes nobody is perfect! I agree, but God is perfect, and if any man be born again (under the grace of God), he will therefore also be lead and empowered by the Spirit of God through God’s grace, so that he henceforth should not serve sin or the flesh anymore. Paul said in Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. You have to die to be freed from sin. No church or Christian leader can do that for us, the Word of God is very clear on this topic. Only God can give us life. Dearly beloved of God, I dare you to be honest today with God and with yourself! • How is it possible that that you are born again if you never died to sin? • How is it possible that you died to sin and yet you still wilfully live therein? There can be no other answer if you still live in sin, (whether it be; baring valse witness, drinking, the use of bad and foul language, unnatural lusts, theft (dvd and cd’s too), jealousy, racial hatred or any other kind) but that you have never been born again. Yes you might see yourself as an believer, yes you might think yourself to be a good person, yes you might have been baptized, yes you might have reacted to an alter call in high school or at some evangelical outreach, but if you are not freed from sin, if you haven’t died to sin and if you are not a totally new creation then you are not born again. Will you not come today? God bless
