Part 9 of 12 for my 1 second per day video project for 2014. Context: On January 1st I decided to try and record at least one second each day. At the end of each month I will post a new video and at the end of 2014, I hope to have a video for the whole year. You see, after suffering three aneurysms in my brain stem in August 2013, and then sustaining a life-altering blood clot in my spinal cord from a life-saving procedure that didnt go as planned; everything changed for us. I woke up to discover I have partial tetraplegia and Brown Sequard Syndrome (Google it). I then spent 188 days in a spinal rehab center/hospital and only got to see my family on the weekends. I have come a long way! I am a father of two beautiful children and a husband to a beautiful and strong (yet tired) wife. I am in constant pain (severe) and I am still fighting to walk again and learning to cope with the constant spasms and nerve damage. Im still having weekly rehabilitation and Im receiving help at a pain clinic. My hope is to be able to go back to work (as much as possible) at our church and even begin some new photography projects. Not one day has been the same and we dont know what tomorrow shall bring. There may be future procedures and there has been complications but our focus is on the present moment; the seconds we have with one another. Life is meant to be lived. May we be present in every moment and love others without holding back. Do not be afraid of others suffering. Our seconds matter too! And you can enrich them if you dare! May we find grace and courage for each second we are given. #StephenFights stephenfights.org
