Part Two....... † In Memory - Jan 4: ***2011 – Gerry Rafferty, Scottish singer-songwriter (The Humblebums and Stealers Wheel) (b. 1947) Gerald Gerry Rafferty (16 April 1947 – 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer-songwriter best known for his solo hits Baker Street, Right Down the Line and Night Owl, as well as Stuck in the Middle with You recorded with the band Stealers Wheel. Rafferty and Joe Egan formed the group Stealers Wheel in 1972, producing several hits, most notably Stuck in the Middle with You and Star. In 1978, he recorded his second solo album, City to City, which included Baker Street, his most popular song. In November 2010, Rafferty was admitted to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital where he was put on a life-support machine and treated for multiple organ failure. After being taken off life support, Rafferty rallied for a short time, and it seemed that he might recover. Rafferty died at his daughter Marthas home in Stroud, Gloucestershire, on 4 January 2011 of liver failure. O:) ***2013 – Sammy Johns, American singer-songwriter (b. 1946) Sammy Johns (February 7, 1946 – January 4, 2013) was an American country singer-songwriter, best known for his million-selling 1975 hit single, Chevy Van. Chevy Van (1975) reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remained in the chart for 17 weeks. Johns died on January 4, 2013, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, North Carolina, at the age of 66. O:) https://youtube/watch?v=RiEIToOWr64 ***2015 – Stuart Scott, American sports reporter and ESPN anchor (b. 1965) Stuart Orlando Scott (July 19, 1965 – January 4, 2015) was an American sportscaster and anchor on ESPN, most notably on the networks SportsCenter. Scott regularly covered the NBA and NFL for ESPN. He was well-known for his unique style and use of catchphrases. In 2007, Scott was diagnosed with cancer. After going into remission, he was again diagnosed with cancer on January 14, 2013. Scott was honored at the ESPY Awards in 2014 with the Jimmy V Award for his ongoing fight against cancer. Scott died the morning of January 4, 2015. ESPN announced: Stuart Scott, a dedicated family man and one of ESPN’s signature SportsCenter anchors, has died after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer. He was 49. O:)
