Part of acknowledging White Privilege is being part of the solution instead of living in the problem. Ignorance and denial is living in the problem...it is being part of the problem. The reality is that it is more than a problem, it is a crisis. White people ask what they can do and I hear over and over again - EDUCATE YOURSELF. I know everyone is busy but we white people have the privilege of choosing if we are going to do anything about the crisis of racial injustice in our community or not. That is privilege. White and blinding privilege. No guilt, no shame...just privilege. So Im asking those of you that keep asking me what you can DO to please take the time to get educated. Read books, go to film screenings, listen to presentations, sign up for workshops, sit in on lectures. Tonight you can see this film for free at the Madison Public Library, Central Library at 6:30pm.
