Part of me loves these House of the Future films. So zerust and yet so futuristic. I love how they say, ..and an electronic oven when can cook your dinner in six seconds! (Predicting the Microwave oven) while at the same time, CRT TVs can be seen everywhere and theyre using a film projector to show home movies. I especially like the weather station idea and theyre not far off the mark with modern zoned heating systems found in a lot of new houses. The record storage idea is pretty cool and the two-sided fridge is a fantastic idea. Its kind of sad that the House of the future still has a lot of things in it that we rarely, if ever, see in houses today. https://youtube/watch?v=jyrTgtPTz3M One other thing.. Whomever made this film didnt understand how expensive electricity is. Im still a big proponent of gas appliances. Back in the 1950s though, gas appliances were dangerous and smelly, so it is understandable that they thought the future would be all electric.
