Part of my daily at-home therapy regime with Patrick includes and hour of CT ( cognitive therapy ). We work out of a Walc Therapy Workbook that was recommended to us by a therapist some months ago. Together we practice skills that have been impaired in the accident like attention, focus, following directions, math, mental manipulation, reading comprehension, and word finding. He continues to amaze me with what he is doing! Just a few weeks ago we were practicing mental manipulation: opposites with a delay. This was one tough exercise! I would give him a word like open and hed have to find and hold in his mind the opposite word closed. Then I would say a new word like salty and hed have to then say the opposite of the previous word (closed), while thinking of the opposite of salty and remembering it, so that when I said the next word (like, say... up) he could then say sweet. It is NOT EASY, and he struggled with it more than he did most exercises. This is Patrick on July 28th practicing this exercise. I will post in a minute what he did with the same exercise today, after practicing it only a handful of times since then!!!
