Part of sunday worship Went to Living Waters church. Heard some good singing and preaching. Toward end lady needed prayer. Her husband in hospital. People prayed. She and her family left for hospital Preacher ended and we had testimonies. One guy said that people should go to hospital tomorrow to show support. Then he said there was going to be a protest for gay rights in Frankfort and that the church should go protest the protesters in love. I liked the love part. He said that they should even go to Washington DC Some guy was really fired up about going to Frankfort and to Washington. He was ready to go. I testified about how good the Lord has been to me. About watching over me thru tire blows out and finding another tire and about my brakes falling off due to my ignorance. He protects us through our trials even when our own ignorance causes them (well isnt this most of our problems) I then said that protesting was ok, but if we are not going to visit one of our flock or do what we can in the community to help each other why should we go to Washington. Jesus didnt protest who was in power. He just healed people and told them the good news. That is is His command to us. If we are not going to obey his commands why should we act like representatives of His on morality. I didnt say the last two sentences in my testimony. I was a little concerned that someone would get upset and that wasnt my intent. I just want to make aware to people that we need to put feet on our prayers. What can we do to help. Our prayer should be to ask God what He would have US do to help others. I did mention in the testimony that church congregations need to be working together for the community. One lady did shake my hand as she was leaving and said she appreciated the testimony. Left there and went to Grace Fellowship. It was 6:15 and I thought I was late but people were just milling around. Lady came over and welcomed me and asked if I had been there before. Only twice ; once to a Wednesday night service and once to a funeral. Informed that there was going to be any preaching; just singing. I was a little disappointed but I had heard a couple of sermons that day so if I wasnt going to do what was told to me in them, I probably would not do what the last preacher said either. Lady came in who was at the Powell co prayer group with me on Saturday. Actually it was her husbands funeral I went to there before. Her grandson, who was also at the prayer group, sang. She sang and her family sang. Then someone challenged the men to sing. I wasnt going to get on the stage for two reasons. Mainly that I cant sing and I wasnt an attendee of the church. The lady, Jane, turns around and starts encouraging me. She says I will get a blessing. I know that and I go up. It was enjoyable. Im thinking about the only other time when I got on stage in church to sing. I was at a black church with a very godly man, JD Benson, and Deacon Jones. The church was having a 100 Women in White service. J D asked me if I knew “this little light of mine” I thought it was a rhetorical question and said “Yes” the next think I know he is saying we are going to get up and sing. I tell him I dont know how to sing and he replies that it is time to learn. I am the only white person in the church. I am the only male that doesnt have a suit and I cant sing. But I thought of a lady who was in the nursing home with my dad. She was physically and mentally handicapped, but she got into singing This Little Light of mine. I thought how much I enjoyed her enthusiasm and I got in to it also. When we got finished one of the Ladies in White said, “now the brother was really into it.” I took that as a compliment and not that they thought I was mentally handicapped also. The young people had a drama team and they performed and lip synced. One of the young ladies was on crutches but she did really well. Later she sang and then she hopped over to the drums and played them. It was very enjoyable and the youth minister (Jame’s step son) who was recording the event spoke to me and thanked me for coming. I asked about his brother who is in bad health and was informed he was doing ok. I told Jane I would see her at the Powell co Drug Prayer group on Saturday. She told me that there had been 6 people before. I guess she was trying to encourage me. Then she said “o yeah I guess you were one of them”. Seems weird that 10 people in the county wont meet in Clay City to pray about the drug situation but are ready to go to Frankfort or Washington to protest gay marriage. I didnt even know this was a problem in Powell Co. I guess that is more exciting than praying; even thought I dont know what could be more exciting than talking to the Most High God. Of course I guess the scary part is what the Most High God might tell us. He might tell us to go befriend a drug dealer or a gay person. He might tell us to bless them. Actually Im sure there would not be a might in it. He would tell us to GO and DO GOOD. That is what He tells us to do everyday. That is what He did. He would tell us to WASH Feet before we went to WASHington. Then when we go there we can wash more feet. This Christian service is about service instead of protesting.
