Josephine (thats the name Napoleon gave Marie Joseph Rose) was a collector of great style, a leader of decor and was mad for fashion. One gown was made completely of rose petals. In one year she purchased 900 gowns. Napoleon put his foot down. With his wife, Napoleon aimed to conquer the world. As a little girl, Joséphine had been told by a fortune teller that she would be queen of France. But her childhood was far from that of the future wife of a king. She was born in 1763 into a poor plantation family in Martinique, the daughter of a gambling-addict father. Napoleon’s last word when he died while in exile was “Joséphine.”
