Part of the cover letter for my very own BOOK!!! Ahhhh!! I am under no pretense to believe that my story of struggle is singular in its difficulty, nor do I feign ignorance at the knowledge that so many have traversed a far more harrowing journey. To many, my story pales in comparison. But I have learned that there is danger in comparing. Our scales are too varied to fairly assess who has gone through worse. Suffering is suffering plain and simple. It is cruel, unforgiving and costly. It will demand everything you have and threaten to snuff out your life and yet, it yields immeasurable strength and witnesses the forging of incredible character if we allow it. It is my deepest hope that, through my story, you will find the tenuous threads common to all who struggle of hope, fear, strength, empathy, compassion, understanding, wisdom and the inevitable wrestling against depression, anger and bitterness. I pray that my attempt at vulnerability and raw honesty will give courage and a voice to those who lack. I write for all of you. Never give up, never lose sight of the finish line. You are NOT alone. Here goes nothing!
