Part one of six. There is life after Jesus. There is thriving, - TopicsExpress

Part one of six. There is life after Jesus. There is thriving, there are smiles, and there is love. Theres the humility of being wrong, of having pieces of your brain blow apart and reassemble, and theres an appreciation of the vastness of a world that is profoundly not black and white. Most importantly, there is still you after Jesus. Be who you are and embrace that even if, especially if, it means letting go of what is supposed to be. (end of last video in the series) I have considered myself an atheist since my senior year of college. I watched these videos as they were made after I graduated, about two years ago. His story mirrors mine, and hooray for New York Christian circles because I can almost guarantee I have at least seen if not met this guy before. I dont think I ever really stopped living long enough to bother making this obnoxiously, unavoidably public since then. To anyone concerned, remember that I havent believed fully for about five years and not at all for about three, so, I mean, it would be kind of silly to attempt to proselytize at this point. These videos are a convenient way to express to all how and why my life changed. I am immeasurably happier now, in general, though of course neurochemistry still enjoys messing with that on occasion, but I am no longer only lonely, sad, and angry. I am more fulfilled, I guess one could say. Hint: it was never tangible facts, historical disputes, scientific analyses that blew my brain up. Thats how it is for most people who deconvert, I know. It was noticing philosophical contradictions EVERYWHERE and not being able to make anything fit together in a coherent fashion. For a long time, I thought Calvinism was the truth and that I wasnt chosen, though I wanted to be. Simply excruciating. I relate far too much to the emotional tone of this series. And that concludes being awkwardly personal for today.
