Partial rebuild/parts replacement question (since most gaskets - TopicsExpress

Partial rebuild/parts replacement question (since most gaskets were done at various points of the past 3 years): What do you think can happen with a 4age mechanically that was overheating after a drift event? A civic radiator was installed by previous owner and with it being half the coolant capacity, I realize was a bad idea after the car developed rod knock the next time I started, it a week later after the drift event. I am buying replacement standard piston rings and replacing all four since it sounded like one of them went bad. Those are my friends educated guess based on sound (and I am deaf). What else do you think is needed to get her back drifting again? I am hoping to avoid removing the head since the head gasket was installed a month prior and drifted a total of three events on it. No oil or coolant are mixed, just a knocking sound. Head was professionally degreased completely. Can I pull the oil pan out and remove crankshaft and pistons and replace the rings that way?
