Participants arrive in Berlin for 9th UNOSDP Youth Leadership Programme UNOSDP (Berlin)- Moving on to the second Youth Leadership Programme (YLP) of 2014 , the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace host their 9th successful event along with co-organisers Right To Play and funding partners the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development at Germany’s largest Olympic training centre. This event focuses on the education of young community sport role models and brings together some of the world’s top development sport organisations to teach them transferable life skills. With thematic topics such as gender equality, sport for those with a disability, community development through sport, peace and conflict resolution being covered by the trained development facilitators. Filling up the tight 12 day schedule are the International Paralympic Committee, AGITOS Foundation, Play & Train, Alba Berlin, Inter Campus, the International Table Tennis Federation, World Taekwondo Federation, the German Olympic Committee, GIZ, Betterplace.org, Right To Play and clothing partners 361 Degree Sportswear. The Berlin YLP has brought together a great diversity of participants, with the 30 being made up of 13 different nationalities, Ghanaian, Namibian, Jordanian, Palestinian, Gambian, Rwandan, Ugandan, Nigerian, Kenyan, South African, Madagascan, Congolese and Tanzanian. After their first day with Right To Play the participants were extremely happywith the experience. Stacey from Namibia, representing the Namibian Woman stated that, “there is such a great mix of cultures, I am very excited to learn more about each and every one on of them.” The team building task today allowed the group to develop a strong working relationship that will be strengthened and challenged throughout their time in Berlin. As our host partners Right To Play are also using this opportunity to raise awareness of their new offices opening in Munich.
